4 cups flour
1/3 cup shortening
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 ½ hot water
Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.
Work the shortening in dry ingredients with your hand.
Pour hot water in a little at a time, working in with hands to make a soft dough.
Knead the dough until smooth.
Divide dough into 12 to 14 small balls.
Roll out each ball on floured board.
Cook in hot skillet coated with a little shortening so tortilla doesn't stick or burn.
