This delicious spicy cheesy beer bread would be great with any hot soup recipe or with a main dish. Make it as spicy as you like!
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
4 ounces Mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes
2 tablespoons to 1/2 cup jalapeños, finely chopped
1 12-ounce bottle beer1 egg, lightly beaten, for brushing on bread
7: Remove bread from baking sheet and place on a wire rack to cool
for several minutes before slicing.
1: Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Step 2: In a large bowl, combine
the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Step 3: Stir in the
cheese and chopped jalapeños, then pour in the beer and stir until
just combined, the dough will be stiff and dry.
Step 4: Turn onto
a very lightly floured surface and knead for several turns, then
shape the bread into a nice ball shape.
Step 5: Place on a
greased baking sheet and brush the top with the beaten egg.
6: Bake at 375 degree for 50 minutes to 1 hour. Check the bread with
a knife or toothpick to see if it is done. If it comes out clean
bake another five minutes.
You may use any hot pepper of your choice
You can also use other cheese, such as cheddar, I used mozzarella because it is lower in fat.
