  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 ½ cups onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 ½ tablespoons salt
  • 3 cans diced tomatoes
  • 2 cans whole kernel corn
  • 2 cans Ranch-style beans.

Let get to cooking:

  1. In a large skillet or pot brown and separate ground beef.
  2. Chop bell pepper and onion.

Dessert: Chocolate Poke Cake Recipe

Chocolate Poke Cake is made with a chocolate cake mix, instant chocolate pudding, and cool whip. It is so moist and yummy with the pudding dripping through the cake.

1 box chocolate cake mix ( I used devil food cake)
2- 3-ounces box chocolate pudding mix
1-8-ounce Cool Whip

Bake cake according to the box, except I doubled the oil amount, this makes the cake very moist.
When cake is done, let cool a few minutes, using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the cake, make sure you poke all the way to the bottom.
Mix the pudding mix with 3 ½ cups milk, you can use 4 cups like it calls for if you like. I just like my pudding thicker!
Pour pudding mix all over the cake so it covers all the holes well.
Cover with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator for a couple of hours.
Before serving cover the cake with the cool whip or you could use whipped cream if you like.

Also looks great with shaved chocolate on top!

Best Chicken Fried Venison

Best Chicken Fried Venison

I was raised on venison or some of us country folks call it deer meat. I have fried many of batch of this easy recipe. Soaking the meat before cooking takes the gamey or wild taste from the meat. Enjoy Best Chicken Fried Venison!

½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup milk
Oil ( I like Crisco or Canola)

In a large bowl soak venison for about one hour or longer in the mixture of water, one tablespoon salt and ¼ cup vinegar. The longer you soak the meat the better.
Tenderize steaks real good.
Have two shallow dishes one for flour, salt, and black pepper mix. One for eggs and milk mix.
First dip steaks into flour mixture, then dip in egg and milk mixture and back again into flour mixture.
Fry in medium-high oil until golden brown on both sides.
You can make gravy from the drippings.

Cousin Ruth's Homemade Biscuits State Fair Recipe

Cousin Ruth's State Fair Homemade Biscuit Recipe

My cousin Ruth made these biscuits from the Demo Kitchen inside the Creative Arts Building just north east of the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas. She made 200 plus biscuits a day during the State Fair of Texas for eight years. You must give this award winning biscuits a try. Enjoy!

2 cups all-purpose flour
¾ cups milk
1 teaspoon salt
¼ cup shortening

¼ cup crumbled, add to milk

½ cup shredded sharp cheddar, add to milk

Add the following to the flour mixture:
1 ¼ teaspoon caraway seeds
½ teaspoon crumbled leaf sage
¼ teaspoon dry mustard

Buttermilk Biscuits:
If you use buttermilk instead of milk it will be necessary to decrease the baking powder to two teaspoons; and add ½ teaspoon baking soda. Also, you need to increase the buttermilk to one cup.

Note: If using self-rising flour omit baking powder and salt.

Heat oven to 450 degree.
Measure flour, baking powder and salt into large bowl.
Cut in shortening until it has the texture of corn meal.
Stir in milk.
If dough is not pliable, add enough milk to make soft, puffy easy-to-roll dough. Too much milk makes the dough sticky, not enough makes biscuits dry.
Place dough on floured board and knead lightly.
Cut biscuits.
Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake until golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes.

Bread Pudding has been around a long time, most recipes are made with raisins, but I do not like them so I leave them out, but if you do, just throw a handful of them in. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon salt

Okay now let get it together and get it in the oven.

Preheat oven to 350 degree.
Break bread apart into pieces and soak in milk.
Add eggs, sugar, raisins, vanilla extract and salt; mix well.
Pour into a 2-quart casserole dish.
Bake at 350 degree for 40 to 45 minutes.

Apple Dumplings Recipe Using Crescent Rolls and Mountain Dew!

I first ate these Apple Dumplings at a friend's house and they are so good and so easy! I ate mine with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, but would also be good without it. Hope you will try this delicious recipe. If you can not have the sugar use Splenda and a diet Seven-Up or Sprite in place of Mountain Dew. The butter, well you just cannot do without it! I am sure peaches or any other fruit would be yummy too! Enjoy!

  • 2 cans crescent rolls
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cinnamon, to sprinkle
  • 1 can Mountain Dew

  1. Cut peeled and cored apples into 8 slices each.
  2. Place each slice of apple on a crescent roll and roll up.
  3. Put each dumpling in a buttered 9-inch x 13-inch baking pan.
  4. Next, melt the butter; add sugar, barely mix.
  5. Add the vanilla extract and stir.
  6. Pour sugar-butter mixture over top of the apple dumplings.
  7. Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the dumplings, not on top of them.
  8. On top of dumplings sprinkle the cinnamon.
  9. Bake in 350-degrees oven for 40 minutes.
