Bread Pudding has been around a long time, most recipes are made with raisins, but I do not like them so I leave them out, but if you do, just throw a handful of them in. A great way to use bread that is not so fresh any more. Bread Pudding can be serve warm or cold, any sauce you like lemon, chocolate or just eat plain. Hope you enjoy this old fashioned dessert.
You will need:
4 cups milk, scalded
3 eggs, well beaten
1 cup sugar
8-10 slices of bread or biscuits (homemade bread is really yummy if slightly toasted)
½ cup raisins (If you like them)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon salt
Okay now let get it together and get it in the oven.
Preheat oven to 350 degree.
Break bread apart into pieces and soak in milk.
Add eggs, sugar, raisins, vanilla extract and salt; mix well.
Pour into a 2-quart casserole dish.
Bake at 350 degree for 40 to 45 minutes.
Put a pan of water on the lower shelf to keep pudding moist.
Note: You may add two tart apple, chopped, peeled if you like.
