What you need:
3 or 4 large firm green tomatoes
½ cup milk
½ cup cornmeal
¼ cup all-purpose flour
Salt and pepper to taste
Oil for frying.
Now let get to cooking:
Wash and slice the tomatoes about 1/8 to ¼ inch thick.
Beat egg and milk together in a bowl.
In another dish, combine flour and cornmeal.
Dip each tomato slice into the milk and egg mixture.
Then dredge in the cornmeal flour mixture.
Fr in hot oil until brown, turning often to prevent burning.
Note: You can also do red tomatoes, but make sure they are not over ripe.
